In 2012, Patrick d'Aulan -founder of Bodega Alta Vista and coming from a family dedicated to the production of wines for 150 years- and Didier Debono -a native winemaker from Bordeaux and the head of enology at the Bodega Alta Vista since 2002- founded Bodega Altamana in the Maule region to revive old vineyards of Malbec planted in the last century by the pioneers of the Chilean wine industry in the southern regions.

This legacy translates into a unique winery created to discover a cultural blend; wines from the new and old world, Chilean wines with a French soul.

Altamana has more than 60 hectares of vineyards that are more than 60 years old in various terroirs in the Maule and Itata Valleys. The soils of different origins and characteristics allow us to grow all kinds of grapes, mainly Malbec, as the emblematic variety of our vineyard. The climate, both coastal and mountain influence, participates in their complexity. Most of our vineyards are managed without irrigation (Dry Farming Vineyard) to preserve their balance and natural concentration. Besides, their harvest is 100% manual, with a strict selection of the grapes in the vineyard.

Our winery has small-volume spherical and cubic concrete vats that
give us ideal temperature conditions during the fermentation and conservation processes, facilitating the natural sedimentation
of the wine.

OUR WINES
Didier Debono was born in Paris, France, in 1972.
The great-grandson of a Vigneron, he discovered the world of wine in his family's vineyards located in the Cognac region. Little by little, respect for the land, passion for wine, and the art of viticulture marked what would later be his vocation, so much so that when he grew up, he decided to study enology in Bordeaux.

With an adventurous spirit and barely 25 years old, Didier leaves for Chile with an internship to take charge of a grape harvest. In 1999 the D'Aulan family trusted him to manage the Chateaux of the emblematic Chateau Sansonnet group in Saint Emilion.

In 2002, he was appointed Head of Enology at Alta Vista Mendoza, Argentina, and there he began to fuse his sophisticated French spirit with the passion and virtuosity of New World wines.

Already with the desire to materialize a personal project, Didier decides to settle in Chile, where he advises several Chilean wineries in the region. After years as an external consultant for Alta Vista, he is chosen again to lead the winery with the position of Head Winemaker.
This is how ALTAMANA was born, a unique winery created to discover a cultural blend; wines from the new and old world, Chilean wines with a French soul.
